Money Moral Dilemma: Should I keep the money I found at work?

Hand it into to management and make it their problem & responsibility, don't forget to get a receipt. I've done similar in workplaces as I won't have them trying to dismiss/discipline me for something entirely avoidable.

It was mine, I don't work with you but it was windy when I lost it so I assume it was blown into your reception.GONE ENGLAND5

I agree with Sandtree: report it to Reception Manager and suggest donating to charity if not claimed after a reasonable time.0

If you keep it you could be in trouble as it could be considered "Theft by finding"
There could be CCTV that could be used against you as evidence. It could cost you your job!
You could hand it into your local Police station, where it would be logged into "Found Property" your details taken, and if, after a month no one has claimed it the money is yours to dispose of as you will.
Or as previously said make it known via notice board or internal mail "property has been found" to contact you if they have lost an "Item" of value. If no one comes forward.... trip to your local nick and hand it in there.
You will feel good about doing the "right" thing. No doubt you would be pleased if someone else found your money and was honest.

Keep it - he who dares wins, he who hesitates will always come last and be at the end of the queue!
Who cares if they are watching you do you really think anyone at your work actually gives a hoot?
Honesty at work is overrated just look at every politician, owner of big businesses etc they are rich because they are all dishonest!
In my experience folk at work talk behind your back , steal from the fridge and would never back you up if their job was on the line!
Humans are pretty vile creatures so just keep the dosh, treat yourself and stop worrying about the trivialities in life.
If you doubt me then next time you go for lunch leave your smartphone on the table with a voice recording app running you will soon hear what people really think about you - even the most decent folks at work are disliked because they are well... "too nice"!
Human nature - nice eh!

I’d keep it. No one is going to accuse you of theft or get you into trouble.
First, it isn’t theft. It’s unsolicited find.
Second, it may not necessarily dropped off another employee. It may have dropped off a visitor or a delivery driver/courier, so sending emails around is pointless.
Third, the person who lost it, most likely they won’t even know whereabout they lost it. They will prob assume they lost it on the train or bus, so unlikely to ask Security to check CCTV.
Fourth, order some pizza with the money and enjoy. It was your lucky day!0 -
The legal situation is unclear, there is a case for it being theft by finding if steps are not taken to find the true owner assuming the money has not been deliberately abandoned which is unlikely. Personally I would view it as theft if you kept it so if you are happy to be a thief then keep it.0

What you didn’t have you won’t miss, be an honest citizen and do the right thing, you know only too well a struggle and it could be your work colleagues last £20 that’s desperately needed, one day you may find yourself in a similar situation and we need more honest people around.0

The very fact that you are having to ask shows you know what you should do. Report that you have found some money and if not claimed within a couple of weeks donate it to charity.0

If you didn't hand it in when you found it you intended to keep it anyway. 2 weeks?. If this scenario was real I'd ask why you are asking. Keep it and forget it or donate it to charity if you feel guilty at last.0
