                    Good afternoon, 
I am looking for some advice with regards to a data share from EON, I had a dispute with EON where they were charging me higher prices because I had come out of contract. This was in June 2020 and I only managed to renew my contract in Nov 2020. In this time EON wanted to change my d/d from £52/mth to £150/mth which was an incorrect figure because I wasn't being charged the correct prices. I tried for months to get hold of the renewals team without success until Nov. In this period between between July-Nov I cancelled my d/d and paid by card instead. I didn't miss a payment and paid £52/mth that I had been quoted when I originally signed up.
When I finally renewed EON recalculated my bill, I set up the d/d and paid off the outstanding balance. But EON have put on my credit file I defaulted for £486.00 and put a status 4 & 5 on my credit file.
I feel this is unfair, I always paid, I wasn't being charged correctly and I tried on numerous occasions to rectify this. I am now unable to obtain a mortgage due to this default and will be homeless within the next 3mths.
Any ideas of what I can do? I have now been transferred from EON to EON Next so every time I call EON I get bounced back to EON Next and when I speak to EON Next they are unable to help as they don't hold those type of details? I'm completely stuck.

            You did not sign up for all you can eat power supply.
You would have tariff to work with sc and elec and gas price.
did you ever give readings to your supplier so as not to build a deficit.

            I did yes, it was an out-of-contract (standard) tariff so it was alot higher than one where you have signed up for 12/18mths.0

            I can't really help with the main issue, however to say you will be "homeless" in 3 months is probably a bit inaccurate, unless there is something else at play here?0

            not knowing (or understanding) the full picture it's hard to offer any helpful advise.
If you have a complaint then the best place to start is logging a Complaint with Eon. Once they have resolved the complaint - if you are not satisfied you could raise it with the Energy Ombudsmen to see what (if anything) they can help with?
The problem seems to be from missed/late payments. From the above i think that appears to be accurate so I wouldn't get any hopes up!
Why exactly do you think you will be homeless?1 - 
            I'm renting and the landlord is selling, we were supposed to be buying but now can't but i can't buy other either unless I have 15% deposit which I don't have. We could possibly continue to rent somewhere else but that also depends on if they accept people with adverse credit history or I'd need to find a private rental.

            If you think your credit record has been falsely blemished then there are routes to getting this resolved.From your explanation it sounds like you have been unfairly treated, if you have not missed a payment as you state.0

The OP says they didn't miss a payment. They didn't say they'd made the correct payment. Only paying £52 when the bill is substantially more could still generate a default if you aren't paying what the company says you owe. @OP, what was the bill amount when you were only paying £52? If EON said the payment required was £150 then that would suggest you were building up a debt of £100 per month over that period.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

But EON have put on my credit file I defaulted for £486.00 and put a status 4 & 5 on my credit file.This was a mistake, the fact that you had a balance left to pay after several months of £52 payments confirms that you were not paying enough, and so the late markers would seem to accurately reflect the late payments...If you were going to go that route, you should have calculated the real amount owed each month based on your meter readings and paid that, so there would have been no balance left at the end, and hence no overdue markers.Re the mortgage, do make sure you use a broker with some experience with credit file issues as they may be able to find you something with a lender that takes a less automated approach.

            @jimjames you are correct I wasn't paying the correct amount but we didn't know what the correct amount was until a renewed.
I now pay £88.00 - they have acknowledged this and recalculated by bill from when the renewal was supposed to take place in June.
So there was a shortfall but I was trying for months, which they've also acknowledged and apologised for. If I had been able to get through and renew in the first instance I wouldn't have had this issue.1 -

If this is the only bit of adverse credit history it shouldn't cause problems once it's been updated,if it's not,as someone with a formerly adverse credit history myself,unfortunately it will continue to raise eyebrows,understandably.
Lesson to be learned though is keep a record of when contracts are coming to an end,and renew accordingly,in good time.
