Gifting Virgin Flying Club points for use on Delta??

Hi,

I have a LOT of Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points.

A family member is flying over from the States to the UK soon and will return Heathrow-Atlanta in mid December. That's a Delta flight, though I guess it will probably be codeshared with VA. I would like to be able to upgrade her to Upper Class for her return flight as a gift.

Does anyone know if she could use some VA Flying Club points, transferred from me, and use them to get an upgrade for a Delta flight?

(I know it would depend on availability but in the first instance I just want to know whether it's possible.)

I have tried in vain to find anything about this on the VA Flying Club website - it's a dog's breakfast at the moment, and many of the links just take you back to the homepage. I don't really want to call them as they say wait times of 2+ hours at the mo.

Thanks if you can help!

Not sure but there are some really knowledgable VS frequent flyers and some VS staff over on the V-flyer forum. Perhaps ask your question there.

As far as I am aware you cannot transfer your airmiles to someone else... you could however book the flight for them from your account and therefore use them that way
  • Thanks for your responses, appreciate it.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to do it. The family member has already booked their flight (Delta, but codeshared with VA) so it would have involved a complicated manoeuvre whereby I transferred a bunch of miles via points.com to her Delta SkyMiles account, paying a big fee to do it by the way, with no guarantees that she'd be able to upgrade her already booked flight. So, no.

And the first hurdle would have been trying to do *anything* with the points via Virgin's Flying Club website since all the links keep taking me back to the home page...  :/ Really not worth the hassle!!
