Scottish power.
I have been with Scottish quite a few years.
im a low user, single occupier,I’m fixed until April 2022 and pay budget account £40 per month,at present I’m £116 in credit.
Scottish power have just offered a new fixed price budget account for &49 per month fixed until April 2023.
Any advice, stay or change,as Martin says in his programme do nothing

Ignore how much per month they are asking you to pay, energy has and never will be "all you can eat for a fixed price".
Look at the unit prices and standing charge prices, it is likely to be higher than the Ofgem cap.2 -
Repeating the advice above, don't even glance at the monthly payment - you need to look at the per unit charges for gas and electricity, together with the daily charges for each.Monthly payments can be revised upwards, even during a fixed tariff. The per unit prices are fixed, the monthly payment is always variable whatever the tariff.Scottish Power are not generally very honest with their customers, you may need to dig to find the actual prices.1

im in a similar situation Walzer1 i must say ive been with scottish power for a few years and always found their tarriffs to be the cheapest for me i pay 29 per month and am in credit a bit too
rightly or wrongly ive taken the plunge and opted for their offer to fix until april 2023 saves me hunting for a tarrif when my current offer comes to an end in April. but energy prices are a minefield they dont make it easy for you , looked at uswitch and theres not a lot out there to cpmpare with0 -
They love customers like you then at the moment, paying more for no reason. Still, your call.2

elec Rate. 21.40
gas standing. 17.54. P
gas. Rate. 4.35
elec standing up by. 2.42

The quote stated my standing order would increase To £49 per month from £40 per month, assuming my annual usage remains the same
Gas 3662 kwh
elec.1380 kWh

To be blunt OP stay where you are for the present, your unlikely to find much,if any better now or in the near future.
Almost choked me saying that as it's Scottish Power were discussing.
Start taking a look around about two months before your fix ends, stop worrying about it until then.
Any other advice closer to that time will most probably be made available in the forum.0 -
We now pay £154 per month on a dual energy fixed rate until April 2022. Scottish Power have offered us a switch NOW to £175 per month, fixed until April 2023. If we do not switch SP say our costs would be £275 per month after current fix expires. This seems like blackmail but the thought of another £120 per month is very worrying. But Martin says do nothing. Really confused! Any thoughts or advice out there please?0
