OK, trying to find a price point.
£949 for the base iPhone 13 Pro. Seems already good at Macro and one of its features.

My wife has a £100 Motorola with decent macro.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
Affordable one would be Google Pixel 6 @ £441

DS has a iPhone 11 and I had a play with its camera, 3 lenses and lots of things that you find on decent cameras. Excellent pics and prices are coming down. Like new on Giffgaff for £315 has to be great value.0

If you are curious about photography (and it sounds like you are), I'd suggest buying a second hand dSLR, like a Nikon D-300 from eBay, and a 35mm f/2.0 lens. Try and avoid one that has been used professionally. Try and avoid buying one with a high shutter count, ideally under 50,000 to have some life left in it.
Learn about the effects that shutter speed, aperture have on an image. Learn about composition. Then maybe further down the line add some strobes (off camera flash). You can get far more creative with the manual controls on the camera. Personally I find the short focal lengths on phone cameras ... necessary because they are small, a major frustration.
There are plenty of books, magazines and forums around from which you can learn tips and techniques. You will take lots of terrible photographs, but in time you understanding of the science and mastery of the techniques improves you will learn to take very good ones.

honestly these phones including Samsung and google are more than enough for the hobbyist photographer. The only time I would even consider spending money on separate camera gear is if its my job or I have a really specific style of shooting that these phones cant cater for.0
