    See above, they only know your gas use, leccy is a pure guess based on basically nothing.
    Nope - the gas use was way out too - wrong supplier even!

    I suspect the accuracy increases if you have always submitted monthly meter readings and you click the correct buttons for dual fuel, or not, or if you have different suppliers for gas and electric.

    My house they knew both gas and electricity from their "industry data". As for my neighbours, one of them has no consumption data and the other one must be farming weed or something, had 20MWh of electricity and 40MWh of gas :o

  • And that's the sort of reason it really should be considered private data.  You're now gossiping about them, for all you know they could have a load of life-preserving medical equipment.

    Useful for me. I see my very elderly neighbour uses very little gas. I'm guessing he doesn't use the central heating. I shall keep an eye on him through the winter and check he's okay. For me, it knows both my gas and elec use.
  • That's all very well intended, but definitely not what anyone could define as "privacy".
    This doesn't happen with anything else - I can't bash someone else's postcode into Amazon and find out what they've bought.
