No, I think they are the same. Someone has added a porch on the front as well as changing the windows. Have they also altered the interior layout? If the layout is the same (ie, large airy living area) then you could produce something of better quality than less than the price difference. Not sure you could move the front door to the front for that, but you might be able to improve the entrance at the side, to make it clearer that that is the entrance. Personally, I like the garden in the first one, despite the slopey thing, because it is in two distinct areas. The other garden is a blank canvas. If it was me, given the prices, I would go for 2, and spend some money. But it is ugly at the moment, and I know I would have an uphill task persuading DH, who cares a lot about that kind of thing. And that might affect resale if you don't pretty it up.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

If you stuck the window from [1] onto [2] it'd make you look like a !!!!!.
Waste of money.
Buy number 1. Or walk from number 2.
It'll look sh1te and you'll never be happy with it and it will niggle at you as you will feel you wasted your money.

Property 1 has knocked the wall down between lounge and dining room which does make a nice big lounge but if i think would be better knocking the kitchen into the dining room as its a bit on the small side.
i totally agree that house number 2 is ugly - have been put of it uptill now for this reason (not viewed it yet!) , but am thinking the price difference is a lot and would i be better altering number 2.0 -

No 1 does look lovely, but if it were me I'd go for No 2 - just so's I could do it the way I wanted, and I'm sure that could look lovely too.
Also noticed that No 1 has planning permission for extension/alteration - wonder if the price reflects that to an extent. No reason you couldn't apply for similar permission on No 2 though if it's been granted on No 1 - presumably the gardens are similar size?

not viewed number 2 yet but as far as i can see gardens are the same sizw. planing permission shouldnt add to value, couldnt afford to extend it either ! Long term though a lot have extened so should not be an issue, not at all keen on the plans for number 1 extension either.
Just need to get my sold and if there still about sit and carefully do all sums .0 -
Number 1 looks far more impressive just fro mthe outside of the house. I think if prices rise then house 1 will rise quicker. If house prices drop, house 2 will drop quicker.
I would go for number 1. It would cost a lot more than £30k to get number 2 up to the same valuation as number 1.0
