I've tried all sorts of brands, minus figures are very common where I live (rural Aberdeen).
Prestone is the only one that has yet to fail.

i use the Tesco one diluted at 20% and its never frozen, the heated wash nozzles and heated front screen keep the fluid moving.

If you're having issue with freezing maybe check the heated jet nozzles on you car?
How many cars have heated washer jets ? or are you just bragging because you have a new /modern /expensive car.

    no heated washer jets here!

given the need to make things environmentally friendly is there any reason not to use vinegar and water like one might do for cleaning windows??  I haven't tried it in the washer nor heard of anyone else either but just wondered if it might work.

Not too frozen here in the south - we did have some snow 4 years back.

Since when do we need screen wash for -60 in this country?  Sounds like the same nonsense as that that makes people buy shedloads of milk eggs and bread when a snowflake hits the ground.
We don't but the ones that go down the further can be diluted more, money saving and all that.

I used to use the Lidl stuff, still got 5 litres in the garage but I've also been using BMW OEM winter wash. I've also bought bulk VW winter screen wash in the past. Definitely wouldn't put Halfords in mine.

Slightly off topic perhaps, but this has always puzzled me.  Standard cooling system, you've got roasting hot water circulating around.  Why don't they just have an extra bit of tubing built in to the system that coils around the screen wash bottle?  Hey presto, toasty warm screen-wash water for free.  I know the nozzles themselves could still freeze, but if the water was hot it would help.  Sounds such a simple idea, I'm sure there must be a good reason why they don't do this.  Or should I patent the idea and make a fortune :-)

Even simpler, a small kettle-type element in the water bottle.

Always had me wondering. A lot of vans I have driven suffer from long pipe runs and I hated the one that have the piping along the wiper, at least with way to de ice apart from super strong de icer. We had to use what was supplied and even neat it would freeze.

Though not sure I would want it off the main engine cooling system, rather an electric one as mentioned through that will cost in. Less ways for an engine coolant system to go u/s the better.

The water would still freeze overnight or when the car isn't in use though which is the time you need it the most, ie, first thing.
