Which winter screen wash will you be using

Getting organised now and going to stock up on screen wash for winter. I've been using halfords -20 concentrate for a good few years now. Admittedly I've only needed to use it neat once or twice in the last 10 years but I can dilute it for normal use and still have some ready when needed. When I did need it neat I was certainly glad to have it and not be rushing round trying to find some. Currently has a pound off too.

Never managed to get the famous lidl -60 stuff, wondering what recommendations others have for money saving low temp screenwash…

    Prestone extreme for me
  • Whatever I can get that goes to -60. Watch the forecast and when a cold spell is in, empty washer and put it in neat or at least 3/4. Comma used to do some but have a few 5ltr bottles stashed when I saw them in the summer. -40 though I think.

Since when do we need screen wash for -60 in this country?  Sounds like the same nonsense as that that makes people buy shedloads of milk eggs and bread when a snowflake hits the ground.

Since I found it the best to use when driving long distances when sub zero (200 miles or so) with a washer bottle in the front of the wing and headlight washer motor prone to freezing and blowing with the added wind chill. Tried the rest but really settled in with this stuff, it's the mutts.

Also the pipes and jets remain free flowing, the -20 stuff I always found wanting. Use it if available in all the cars now when a cold snap in, the hatchback has no issues with the rear after a night on the drive. No cold snap, use warmer stuff.

Wind chill doesn't freeze water.  It makes you feel colder - water and other liquids don't 'feel' anything.

Well, whatever but -20 wasn't doing it for me.

What will i use probably what's in the garage and that is probably Prestone .
Though in the many years of motoring its not something i have ever needed to think about which brand  .
  • i use the Tesco one diluted at 20% and its never frozen, the heated wash nozzles and heated front screen keep the fluid moving.

If you're having issue with freezing maybe check the heated jet nozzles on you car?

I had some stuff from Lidl or Aldi, I forget which. It was apple scented and in concentrate form, and it worked extremely well.

The cheap stuff doesn't clear the window and doesn't lubricate the wipers, but that stuff did. Unfortunately I gave what I had left away and haven't seen it since.
