Turps spillage on back car seat

Not sure if this is the right place to post. Partner took an unidentified carrier bag to the tip as it was dumped outside our house next to the stuff we'd piled to take. He didn't check what was inside... Whatever it was must have spilt and now the car stinks of what smells like turps. The back seat was lowered and I presume it has seeped into the foam. We've tried an odour neutraliser bomb, didn't work. I fear it's extremely unhealthy to be in the car at the moment. It's been a week with no improvement and the smell is overpowering and lingers on clothes and hair. Any advice on what to do gratefully received.

Realistically? Investigate getting replacements for whichever seat parts are affected.
What make/model and how old is the car?

Consult a good car valeting place? Might be worth taking the seats in question out to clean them and let them sit with more ventilation than in a closed car. I don't know how you use your car and if having the back seats out for a while would be a problem.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Thanks for replying. I did wonder if that was going to be the only solution. Car is a Skoda Fabia Estate from about 2006 I think.

Yes, will ring one and see what they say. No idea how to take the car seats out! Will find out if that's possible, thanks.theoretica said:Consult a good car valeting place? Hi,looks easy enough to get seats out, here's a wee VIDEO.1

Ah, thanks! Partner has just got them out. He's gonna go to a scrap yard to see if they have any seats so we can replace.[Deleted User] said:Hi,looks easy enough to get seats out, here's a wee VIDEO.0 -
Hi,that's good, was gonna suggest getting second hand, good luck.1

Thanks. Yeah, I think cleaning will have limited results so replacing probably the best solution.[Deleted User] said:Hi,that's good, was gonna suggest getting second hand, good luck.

If no joy there, check the well known online auction site. Car breakers often advertise parts on there and I can see there are various Fabia seats available.
Bear in mind the seats are a safety-critical component - in an accident the security of the seat fixing to the vehicle body shell is vital to making sure the seatbelts work effectively and that passengers don't get crushed. Given the age of the vehicle and the cost/hassle of getting and fixing the seat(s), weigh up whether you actually want to go down the replacement route and the confidence you have in the safety of the repair.

It's only the bottom cushion part that they will be replacing, nothing structuralSection62 said:Eversonclaire said:
