Alpha Rooms cancelled hotel

Hi,
I arrived in Spain on Monday to find that Alpharooms had cancelled my hotel booking without notice. The booking had been cancelled two days prior on the Saturday due to an issue with a local supplier.
I then had to pay for the room again at the hotel, and Alpharooms have told me that it's going to take around 28 days to refund me, and that they can't say exactly when. This left me short on spending money whilst away.
Has anybody else experienced this problem with Alpharooms recently, or any suggestions on how to speed up the refund process?
Thanks
Daniel

Alpharooms and Teletext Holidays are brands owned by Truly Travel. You might wish to search the forums for stories on Teletext.
Of course this could be an innocent administrative error. Or perhaps Alpharooms did not pay the third party bed supplier and this resulted in the cancellation of your room.I would be inclined to contact your bank or credit card company and ask them for help to recover the money paid to Alpharooms.0 -

As above it seems they've ceased trading which is likely why your booking was cancelled.
The good news appears to be that bookings were financially protected by the Travel Trust Association and there's a claim form on the link Browntoa posted https://alphaholidays.traveltrust.co.uk/
As long as you have proof of your booking/payments to Alpharooms and you retain proof of having to pay again at the hotel then you hopefully won't have much trouble. Report back if you can, I don't remember seeing much about failures of companies protected by TTA and how long the claims process might take.

There's a Teletext thread too Teletext - ceases trading? — MoneySavingExpert Forum It's a bit unusual in that they aven't actually (yet?) delcared they're in administraion. Just that they're no longer a TTA member and aren't selling holidays. Future packages been protected by a TTA in house company with an ATOL licence. Not sure I've seen anything like this before, maybe you'll know more?0
