AutoAid Renewal

Been with AutoAid for a number of years to cover me and my husband. 2 car household and both are 1995 models.
This year the renewal has gone up from £54.99 to £74.99. I've tried emailing 3 times now, but they haven't yet explained the increase.
They only keep repeating what the policy covers. A new AutoAid policy via MoneySaving Expert is £54, so may skip renewal, and wait til 1 Jan 22 when the 'loyalty penalty’ crackdown comes into effect, then sort a new policy with them.
Anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks

If a new policy is cheaper buy it in your husband's name as it covers both drivers in any vehicle.2

Turns out they now add £20 for cars over 15yrs old. But they don't mention or explain this on their website or in the renewal docs.0

They have done the same to me. my car is 2014.
Your premium for the past 12 months was: £59.99
The renewal cost due for the next 12 months is as follows: £74.99 (including Insurance Premium Tax @ 12.00% and service charge of £5.00).
May be Martin should look into this?
What do you think?0 -
How can I report this to Martin?0

I got £59.99 with older cars in August so looks like this changed recently.
why do you think it’s unreasonable to charge extra for old vehicles?
seems perfectly reasonable to me.
i had 2 claims last policy years and one was probably don’t to age.
its a bargain IMO but if you can get a better offer elsewhere then walk.
i don’t think you can do anything about their business model unless it’s illegal e.g. discrimination, and age of car is not a protected characteristic.
you can of course notify MsE if that is what you meant.0 -
No problem with the prices, the advert on MSE is here. My car is 2014 not yet 16 years old!!!! Trade description? MSE is pushing this.

So what is the error?
15 years instead of 16?
have you thought of sending an email to correct it?
i don’t think they get hung, drawn and quartered for minor errors that aren’t intended to deceive.
perhaps you could help out and inform them (I can’t as I’m not clear on the exact error).0 -
So, these companies are the easiest to deal with are they? Autoaid wanted to raise me from £59.99 to £76.49. According to Martin this is for cars over 16 years old. Mine isn't, so I rang up to complain and was advised this price allows me to drive cars over 16yo. Some years ago I had an old Toyota that was that age and I believe they were still quoting for that. Suggesting this to the operator met with a complete shut down and just a repeat of the quote. I was refused to speak to a manager. They acknowledged that Eversure were cheaper for the same cover and that is who now have my business. I think Autoaid are too big for their boots so voted with my feet.0

I paid 59.99 on 1st Feb
I have one of the earlier policies with the number beginning RC which includes cover for cars older then 15 years
Could that be why still 59 ?
I specifically confirmed the 15 year point still applied with them at that time too, since one of our cars is a 2004
Edit :
I recall now that my policy failed to auto renew due to out of date card, they sent letter to prompt me to call, was on hold a while so though I'd do it via web site and that would only offer it @ £75
So back on phone - and they said yes had to be done by phone so they could override that price ( or words to that effect)0 -
I let my Autoaid policy auto renew by mistake. I phoned them the second day after it auto renewed, and to my surprise they refuse to refund the money they took from my credit card, and say that I have to pay two admin charges to cancel my policy - about £25. Do I have to accept this?0
