How to report uninsured vehicle parked on the road?
If it was not for the parking issue I would have just kept quiet.

There may be a link for each police force but a quick google showed a link to avon and somerset police - essentially its 'reporting a suspected crime' so maybe google your local force

hope this helps

As far as I am aware you are only allowed to do this under certain circumstances,
Indeed. That's why I asked. From AskMid:2. Data Protection Declaration
I am entitled to the insurance information about the vehicle detailed above for one or more of the following reasons: It is either registered/ owned/ insured by me or my employer; I am permitted to drive it; I am an Insurance Broker or agent and acting on behalf of my client.
I understand it is an offence to wrongfully obtain information of this nature without any of the above reasonable causes. If I fail to provide true reasons for acquiring this information I may be committing an offence of unlawfully obtaining data contrary to section 170 of the Data Protection Act 2018. I declare that the information provided will not be used for any purposes unrelated to this enquiry.
I further understand that this check on askMID is not proof of insurance nor is it proof of no insurance but confirms only if the vehicle is currently showing on MID.
Please contact your insurer if you believe the information from this enquiry is incorrect.
I confirm that: I have read and understood the Data Protection Declaration and one of the options stated above applies to me and I agree to the terms of use as stated on this website.

Are there are local regulations about parking large commercial vehicles on residential streets?
If I understand it correctly, to use a commercial vehicle over 3500kg (which a luton and a recovery vehicle *could* be), you need an operators license and that requires a yard with suitable off-street parking for them:
https://www.highway-logistics.co.uk/operating-licence-10-point-guide-hgvs-for-business/
Of course, they might be plated under 3500kg and you'd never be able to tell, or they may not be running them 'for hire and reward'.
Any idea what they do for work?
I'd also assume they'd need to be insured properly as a traders insurance won't cover them for anything beyond transporting and test drives. They may have some kind of fleet insurance but I'd assume they'd still need to be listed in the policy.

Is the car parked on the correct side of the road during the night or wrong side, wrong side without lights is £1000 fine. At night a large van without lights - just an idea.
