Lucky me then! Apart from getting another SMETS2 meter installed, is there no way I can ask for another IHD with more functionality? I've seen digital watches more complicated than this.

Suppliers are only obliged to support the IHD that they supply for 12 months. I know some will provide a new IHD if you take out a new contract, others will replace the IHD but raise a charge.

Hildebrand, which is a Register DCC User, will supply an IHD:

They are also able to connect their IHD to the DCC Network.

I think you'll find that there were lots of "experts" who analysed to sort of info that an averge person might be able to cope with from an IHD and then tried to simplify as much as possible so it took virtually zero intelligence to understand it - unfortunately they failed.
