Which idiot designed the wireless smart meter LCD,not to be able to give you an actual meter reading
My gas meter is in a very hard to reach spot, and surely having a smart meter should have made it easy to get a meter reading (need a reading because of Avro going bust), yet the wireless LCD does not actually give you a reading, it tells you how much you have used but not an actual reading, so it knows the reading just will not display it.

My E7 smart meter shows me the combined reading rather than both the day and night registers separately so not much use for me either. Still need to keep going outside. How hard can it be really?0

For gas though, since there is only the one reading I'm surprised your IHD doesn't show it...It has been there on both of the two different ones I've had, but it is on one of the sub-menus, under 'Meter information'.2

As above, my IHD does show my gas and electricity meter readings but it's in a sub-menu rather than on one of the prominently displayed screens. I'd suggest having a good look through all of the menu options before definitely concluding the info. isn't there...3

Founds it thanks to MWT and Ultrasonic pointing me in the right direction

What model of IHD do you have?wittynamegoeshere said:Any chance of enlightenment? My old IHD could give a meter reading, I can't find it on the latest one despite delving through loads of menus.

Have a look at page 22:wittynamegoeshere said:Hello. It just says "Trio" and "Geo" on it. There's no model number, just a tiny barcode that I guess is a serial number.I can install Windows from scratch with my eyes shut and used to write software for a living. But I don't know how to take a meter reading, these things are an absolute failure in terms of user interface.I've just tried again, every tier of every menu and I can't find a meter reading. Lots of pretty graphs that are actually very useful, but no basics.I'm guessing that the people who designed them didn't think the meter reading was any of the customer's business, as it would be read automatically, they wouldn't have a supplier like Symbio who didn't bother connecting to it and they also assumed that we wouldn't have suppliers going bust every week and millions of people stuck between suppliers with nobody able to access it.

wittynamegoeshere said:Thank you, I had only the short manual before. Now found, cheers. That really is not intuitive. If you press the House icon you get a menu. What's not obvious is that this isn't the full menu, you need to press the Hamburger icon, then scroll down, then meter.Mine's a Geo Trio II but it's quite different from the one in that manual. No hamburger menu here, just "house" then scroll down to "meters".I guess they improved it?I'm on Firmware A4.4 / B2.2 / T1.5 if that means anything to anyone

If anybody knows how to get the Secure Liberty 500 IHD to spit out the meter readings, I'd appreciate knowing. The only way I know is to show monthly history usage where a cumulative is shown in the top right.0

Pretty sure that is one of the very few that will not display a meter reading.poppellerant said:If anybody knows how to get the Secure Liberty 500 IHD to spit out the meter readings, I'd appreciate knowing. The only way I know is to show monthly history usage where a cumulative is shown in the top right.

Lucky me then! Apart from getting another SMETS2 meter installed, is there no way I can ask for another IHD with more functionality? I've seen digital watches more complicated than this.MWT said:
