Isn't this just the original £200 "buy now pay later" loan scheme but on steroids?

As far as I'm concerned ,you can discount ANY plans put forward by the Utility Companies as they are merely protecting their bottom line and exposure to debt ,by pushing the costs onto the hapless taxpayer !!

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

My supplier just sent me this mealy-mouthed email, somehow depicting themselves as being forced to raise their prices to comply with the upcoming price cap increase.
Ofgem, the UK energy regulator, will be announcing the new price cap rates at the end of August. The price cap is a limit on how much you pay for each unit of gas and electricity you use. While we don’t yet know what the new rates will be, the price cap is expected to rise significantly.
These price rises affect everybody on a flexible (standard variable) or prepayment tariff from Saturday 1 October, regardless of which supplier they’re with. We know these price rises will be extremely challenging for our customers, so we’ll be offering all the support we can.

I wonder what "all the support we can" means?

Ask them what "all the support they can" entails and keep hold of that email for if you ever need all their support.

Absolute rubbish the stuff they send out.

    Winter is coming.....

    Winter is here
  • Like the planet and its dog, I wanted to forecast whether/when to fix and how to know a good deal. Thanks to "pochase" of this manor, I learned to calculate the Cornwall-Insights projected tariffs on assumption standing charge stays the same. I also decided it's easier to use a per 1000 kWh cost per fuel cost for each Q projection. That way, I can multiply by factor for my own consumption and add back the SC:-

E.g. My gas use is 4500 kWhs so I multiply the gas figure by 4.5.

Turns out my supplier's current "loyalty" 12M fix offer is £300+ a year more expensive in total than the variable caps in same period. We live in confusing times.

And todays latest update from Auxilione. Very high increases in the prediction for January onwards.

With 89.28p and 23.55p that is the current cap figures trebled by April.

Again, I would usually stick with CI predictions, but a daily update shows where the trend is going, and in early July the Auxilione forecast seemed ridiculous high, and a few weeks later CI were at the same figures.
