Impossible ? hatchback/sub/mpv for 3 dogs with good MPG and under £3000

I've seen other posts asking for hatchback with a large boot but the answers are not suitable for large or multiple dogs. A hatchback/suv/mpv etc can have a large boot but it is often sloping and not tall enough for 2 or 3 dogs to stand up in

Is there such a thing and are there any without a large car tax bill or silly mpg ( 35+ mpg avg )

..and then to make it more impossible under about £3000

Thanks

I find this website really useful - it is focussed on how easily a wheelchair will go in the boot, but really useful measurements for other loads. https://www.ridc.org.uk/features-reviews/out-and-about/car-search

Well obviously it will depend on how large the dogs actually are and what else you want to fit in.  I'd picked up a chair for a friend and he couldn't fit it into his little Renault Clio but it fit easily into my VW up.  But his car is a 3 door while mine is 5.

A Skoda Superb Estate might just do. You can find them for £3000 on eBay.

Apart from that you are looking at the largest of MPVs  (e.g. Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan/Seat Alhambra, Corolla Verso, Dodge Journey, Mitsubishi Grandis, Renault Grand Scenic) or a Van-derived Minibus (e.g. Ford Tourneo) .

I'd go for a Vauxhall Zafira with the 1.8i petrol engine.  Great all rounder, loads of space, cheap as chips.

Or heres a diesel variant with slightly higher miles.

Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

An estate may well be the answer.

We had a Dacia Logan with a dog guard which split it down the middle, allowing one side for shopping / boots / waterproofs and the other side for one labrador sized dog. Without the guard you could probably fit in three dogs, but wouldn't have anywhere to keep the shopping.

A Vauxhall Zafira with the back seats folded down might also work.  We've had one and again we had a dog guard.

Both of these are 'cheap' cars and certainly used to be readily available at the budget you have. Whether that is still the case after the recent price rises I don't know.

You need a car that's a van that's a car like the Fiat Doblo.

They even do a high roof version if you can find one, but they are rare and mostly get converted to wheelchair access.
