18yo daughter offered a job but can't find her passport

Hi
My 18yo daughter has recently moved to a different part of the UK from where we live to Study. I asked before she left if she had her passport in case she needed it whilst living away and she reassured me she had. This turns out to be incorrect. She has no idea where the passport is! We are currently searching everywhere at home and she insists she's looked amongst all her belongings in her student digs. The last time I recall it leaving the house was for a part time job she got near home towards the end of August. I popped to her old workplace yesterday to ask, but was told they hand them straight back as they dislike having responsibility for them, so definitely not there.
In addition she also had a provisional driving license that she used for ID in bars. On a recent trip home whilst we were away she claims she left it in the pocket of some leggings at our house. Only said leggings are nowhere to be seen! So, she doesn't have that either!
She has been offered a part time weekend job in the city where she studies, which has a good hourly rate and will be good on her CV, only they want to see her passport. She has a copy of it she printed of, but they will only accept her showing the actual passport. She can't start the job without it
Any ideas what she can do? They won't hold the job for long for her.

Although you've not asked I'm assuming you need replacements;

Thanks Rob. A computer blip meant it posted before I'd finished, so was probably editing. There's a problem with the time span and how long they'll hold the job. She's at college 4 full days a week. It's drama school not Uni, so they tend to have longer hours and I'm unsure where she'd have to travel to for a face to face appointment. She can't do online as you need your old passport, I'd hoped that was the answer!robber2 said:Although you've not asked I'm assuming you need replacements;0 -
There are other IDs that can be accepted (if they wish) - a combination including original birth certificate. Has she asked if they have the full list of what is acceptable?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Thank you. I will get her to ask this. Her full birth certificate is at our home but I could post to her.theoretica said:There are other IDs that can be accepted (if they wish) - a combination including original birth certificate. Has she asked if they have the full list of what is acceptable?0 -
Lack of passport should not be an issue.. as @theoretica said.
List is here...

Yes but remember that is a guide only. An employer is free to insist on whatever they like as they are the ones that will carry the can if they get it wrong!Bradden said:Lack of passport should not be an issue.. as @theoretica said.

Fingers crossed they'll accept these. I have both her full birth certificate and her P45 from her previous job here.Bradden said:Lack of passport should not be an issue.. as @theoretica said.

Something that came to us last night. Would an expired passport be acceptable? Daughter's was only renewed last year. We have her old one in the house somewhere.0

Only the potential employer can answer that. It is up to them.Spendless said:Something that came to us last night. Would an expired passport be acceptable? Daughter's was only renewed last year. We have her old one in the house somewhere.
As I said in an earlier post, although there are published guidelines of what is generally regarded as acceptable proof of identity and right to work in the UK it is entirely up to the employer what they will accept. If they get it wrong and employ somebody who is then working illegally it is the employer that will get fined.0 -
Not sure that's true @Undervalued as long as the employer conducts due dilligance tests following the appoved list.0
