Sadly you need to follow the steps outlined and write in to your council. If you bypass and go to the Ombudsman they will refer to back to the council as 'you haven't given them time to resolve your issue'.Another options is to contact your local councillor for support to deal with the issue. Find the Councillor in charge of housing and write to them. If you have multiple ward councillors, try the ones not in power as it gives them point scoring opportunities to help you.BUT do it in writing, (email is fine), be calm polite and have as much detail of the problems needing fixing (include photos as well).Lightly touch on the housing department failings for now, focus on fixing the issue first.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Thanks for the helpful advice - The(towerhamletshomes) are trying not to resolve as its probably going to be expensive job not a 2 or 5 minute fixTripleH said:Sadly you need to follow the steps outlined and write in to your council. Ah yes, the holy trinity - flippant, completely off topic and condescending.Rosa_Damascena said:TH? Get the heck out of Dodge City is my advice. Move somewhere pleasant and affordable.

I don't agree with you. RD has got this one right.Maarakaan said:

There are some LA's that will never improve and deal with issues efficiently.
As a resident, if you face dealing with problems with the LA in the area you live in then of the options of "improving the LA" or "changing where you live" then there is only one which is realistically open to you.

It wasn't actually a flippant comment, nor condescending but based on personal knowledge of the area. Demand for social housing in TH is incredibly high, if they offer to ship the OP out to somewhere decent in the 'burbs that is commutable to work and offers better schooling options for their children, in their position I would grab it with a longer-term aim to move away from social housing altogether. London housing is basically unaffordable if you're starting with little.Section62 said:

They did get the repair done 5 & a half months late and later when what looked like a bloke over 65 years old plumber came out with a younger bloke maybe 45-48 yrs old and did what they should have done in the 1st place and fixed the leak in 35 minutes and that was all that was really needed all along - sending 30 yr olds out is usless nowadays as most of these trades people havnt got a clue and they have to wait till the guy thats been around the block numerous times to actually know what to do.
