hi i am looking for some help please as travel companys dont seem to know the answers.
me and my wife want to book to go to florida next month on the 10th till 25th.   we are both double jabbed with astrazeneca.
our second jabs was given 3rd june so i assume they will cover us.

we are trying to find out what we need to do to be able to travel to the usa.
we know we need to have the pcr test but is it just a pcr test or a fit to fly test ?
when in america florida do we need to then take a days 2 to 5 lateral flow test ?
when we return to the uk do we need to take another pcr or lateral flow test ?

any help would be great also if you think of anything we may need to do that i havnt thought of please feel free to mention it,

You'll probably find there's no one answer.

check online what the airlines want.  and check what the US government allow.  there is likely different things allowed for different states.

I'm having to go through the same thing to fly to Canada.  Air Canada insists on mask on continuously on board, BA does not.  Canada doesn't insist on masks indoors or on public transport but Ontario does in some cities/areas.  Fully double vaccinated with a short list of allowed vaccines allows one to skip quarantine although isolation on return may be required.  Pre flight testing seems to be universal.  Not all tests will be possible as some require you to have not been out of the country in the previous 2 weeks which means I wouldn't be able to go to Canada for just a week.

And everything might change tomorrow.....or the next day....

Not sure about Air Canada but on BA it's supposed to be on unless you are eating or drinking, surely Air Canada will be the same?

You can "nurse" drinks for a good while and remain mask less for virtually the whole Flight if you play your cards right. :D

Here you go Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People | CDC

    • Fully vaccinated air travelers coming to the United States from abroad, including U.S. citizens, are still required to have a negative SARS-CoV-2 viral test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board a flight to the United States.
See also Entry requirements - USA travel advice - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

However the guidance is still changing so it might be more clear closer to the 8th November, but those who are vaccinated don't need to quarantine at least.

It says you should get a test 3-5 days after arriving, but only "should" not "must" so not sure if you have to. Probably advisable though.

On return to the UK you need to do a day two lateral flow or PCR

You obviously haven't done much flying during the pandemic !!

If you’re that worried, flying probably isn’t a good idea right now.
Being in that close proximity I doubt a mask would be enough to stop transmission

I agree... that's why I've chosen not to fly... and whilst a mask may not stop transmisison it will reduce the risk - so why not wear one?

You'd better not get on a Train or a Bus then either or even go to the Supermarket ?

Agreed, I wouldn't dream of getting on a train or bus while the risk is still so great.
Your supermarket comparison is just ridiculous but not surprising from someone who thinks it's so clever to blatantly flout the rules.

And I agree with you - I wouldn't willingly fly but unfortunately it looks like I'm going to have to.  But I can't wear a mask.  I know there could be a backlash if I'm sitting throughout a flight without one - I've heard of people getting violent to enforce compliance.  And I completely understand someone sitting next to me being concerned.  Because of that I'm trying to ensure I am documented as not being able to wear a mask as well as having a suitable notice that I can show people or at least leave on my tray or whatever to explain why I don't have a mask on while sleeping or whatever to help avoid confrontations.

    @Butt
I asked someone who has just flown back from Canada on BA and said it was very lax compared to when they flew Air Canada a few months back.  Also the BA website doesn't have all the blatant info about covid that AC does.
