Conveyancing

Has anyone used the online comveyancing websites eg. Muve?
They are cheaper than the quotes from solicitors that have branches. Is it worth going with them or are they more hassle than they are worth to save £1000

  • I'm currently using Enact - They were great with the sale of my property which completed on 01/09 - quick, efficient, great comms etc. We are now proceeding with our purchase and things seem to be moving pretty slowly and we are receiving little in the way of comms - I'm happy to sit and wait it out but my wife's less patient and currently fit to be tied.

Muve are pretty poor and a nightmare to deal with.

They may be U.K. based but much of their conveyancing is farmed out to their office in Sri Lanka.

Thanks everyone I think I preferred to go for a local solicitor but I guess the difference in fees is massive. You’ve all put me off online. If anyone has a good experience of an online conveyancer please let me know 😎

I used Muve last year for a sale and purchase and actually found them pretty good. They were faster and more responsive than the local solicitor my buyer was using.
They were a lot cheaper than the local solicitors quotes!

A lot of the communication is via email which worked for me as I could read and answer when I was working. But I know some people prefer a more face to face approach. There were phone calls as well.
You have an appointed ‘account manager’ who deals with the initial paperwork and day to day enquiries. Then later on in the process you have a conveyancer assigned to you who will do all the official conveyancing work. I think the ‘account manager’ is based overseas but my conveyancer was based in the UK. I posted docs to a London address and also you scan and send docs via email.

I took online reviews with a pinch of salt. As sometimes people are quick to complain when things go wrong but aren’t always in such a rush to leave positive reviews/experiences. Some people also have unrealistic expectations on timeframes when buying/selling. So they’re leaving negative reviews because it “took 12 weeks to complete” when generally that’s about the average.

When spending vast quantities of money on a house purchase, the last thing you want to do is use a cheap on line conveyancing factory unless you like stress by the bucket load
Often such outfits aren't cheap as they pay away hundreds per case to introducers like estate agents. I've always recommended firms I know to offer good service who I use for my personal business and who pay me nothing in return.

Absolutely. my solicitors are the same firm even my late Father used for his business and subsequently mine.

My EA has even asked if they could recommend mine to perspective clients.

I find them very reasonable in price and have always done me well , especially in a house purchase when things can get emotional
