My IHD allows me to set my own target consumption which then tries to work out the optimum energy consumption. This means it flashes from, Green-Orange-Red and back again as stuff like the fridge, freezer, coffee machine, and anything else cuts in an out
Mine is a Geo Trio like the photo and yes, it sets its own thresholds for green/amber/red based on my usage target.
Mine goes into yellow around 400W and red somewhere betewwn 1kW and 2kW (I haven't trialled it rigorously!).

    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.

Is the usage target something you can set yourself? Just wondering if this is what the OP should be checking/adjusting...

What annoys me about my IHD is that it shows the E7 day and night readings combined instead of showing both, so I have to keep going outside to get the readings for my spreadsheet. I was hoping the BRIGHT app would show me the actual readings but no such luck.

There seem to be various different Geo Trio firmwares, all looking the same but with different menu options. On mine you can choose Home (the house button) > Settings > Budget. That might (or might not) affect the on-screen segments.

For SMETS2 meters, the meter is capable of recording energy in 4 separate registers in 48 by 30 minute periods per day. I believe it is the same for SMETS1. The IHD shows the cumulative total of all the registers that are in use and have been in use. Care is therefore needed when switching to make sure that the new supplier is provided with the correct register reading. When we are all smart metered, then this potential billing trap goes away. The new supplier will just accept the smart meter readings on switch.

I want to see what happens with my SMETS1 meter. It was installed by SEE in 2017 and worked as a smart meter untill I changed suppliers.

I've had five suppliers since then and although the IHD has displayed meter info (dailly, weekly and monthly), it hasn't done pricing or sent data back to the supplier.

Suddenly, at the beginning of September it started working again with SYMBIO (and is still working although Symbio went bust on 3rd October) so I'm wondering if it will stay smart or revert back to dumb whether EoN-Next get it sorted out.

My guess is that it should remain smart, as I assume that it's been enrolled into the DCC.

I had a SMETS1 meter fitted first and it was tied to that 1 provider, i then later got it changed to SMETS2 so I could move to different suppliers and keep the meter "smart" providing the supplier I was switching to accepted smart meter readings, which is part of my criteria when looking for a new supplier and so far it has worked ok.  I moved from SSE to EOn and then from Eon to ESB and it worked fine thought those, it submits readings back etc no problem so as your with EOn, I suspect it will remain smart as they can take smart meter readings.
