  • Sounds very much like a typo to me and the car is also being used as the garage run around for the time being.  Either walk away or do some haggling.

You don't have to buy it.

Is the car a fair price at the higher mileage compared to other cars AC do?

If so it might have just been a typo on the website. The deposit is fully refundable and AC won't have done anything with it beyond noy selling it to someone else, so you can alwayd see what they'll offer and walk away if you're not happy.

They won't give you anything for the lost opportunity.
The car is reasonably priced for the actual mileage. Just a bummer that the mileage is higher than it was when i first seen the advert.

    Thanks for the replies.

I've spoke with them on the phone but unfortunately they aren't willing to budge on the price or offer any extended warranty on the car so i've left it a few days to think about it. I'm sure if i don't buy the car another will eventually pop up on their website for a similar price.

    With a similar mileage ;)

They are not stupid, and price the cars to the market, one with 30K less miles would have been more expensive, as you note, the price of this one is competitive against others with 60K on the clock.

As others have said, looks like a typo of a 2 instead of a 5 originally, and now someone is thrashing it about and piling up miles. (probably sensible not to leave a focus ST outside at a deserted garage at night though)

If you like it, go through with the sale, otherwise get a refund, you won't get a bargain at a car supermarket at the moment though, especially a popular car.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

It's not unheard of cars selling for a good price. The car i'm trading in i got at a good price with only 16k on it.
There's nothing to say that if i didn't buy the car now that in a few months time a similar car with less miles wouldn't be available for a similar price. I suppose it depends on age, condition etc but yeah as far as the car i'm interested in at the moment the price they're looking for is about the average for that year, mileage and spec.
There was other ones in the same spec with lower mileage on them, mid 40's low 50k but they are all reserved. I do like the car so i will probably buy it.
Yea they're notorious for getting stolen. I've never had a problem where i stay with people trying to steal my car and have always owned fast hatchbacks that normally get targeted by thieves
