These are the end of the blind and the top fit clips we have. Thank you.0

the L shaped bracket you have posted up IS the bracket to use to side fix these blinds. if they were being top fixed, the L bracket would not be used.1

If the blinds are more than a metre long then side fixing will cause problems. The brackets are top fixing and face fixing. Depending on length you may need to use 3 or more.
Best fixing method for the blind are top fixing brackets. Never had a problem on brick, block plasterboard or steel.1 -

Was wondering if anyone had dome anything similar or had a better idea.

If your not comfortable with holes at the top, just get some mitre bond or stixall and glue a batten across the top and screw in to that.1

I've done this, lots. I've fitted blinds like these to all my windows, some 8' wide, with no bother.
As 47Revisited says, you must use the given number of clips, evenly spaced. If you don't the blind will sag, look naff and the mechanism will stick and drag.
In my case I just drilled small holes and fixed all the top-fix clips with small plugs and screws. There was always at least an inch of drillable stuff before the steel lintel which is ample for the distributed weight of these blinds. They've been up 5 years and more without incident (famous last words).
Read this very useful website https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/drillintolintels.htm
It gives really clear DIY instructions for all types of fixings including exactly how fix a timber support as you are considering.1
