Erroneous Theft of Energy Account
Options
Has anyone experienced the following
I received an email from my current provider Eon stating I was leaving. I did not instruct that so called them. They told me it had been done online via Quidco and the transfer was to Scottish Power. I then find out that apparently by husband did it. That is so laughable as he knows nothing of our utilities. Then bizarrely my Sister receives the first bill. The bill states my husband's name, her address for correspondence and my home address to receive supply. The email given was naughtysammij@gmail.com?????
I managed to stop it going through and both Eon and Scottish Power were fantastic. I reported it to Google and Action Fraud. Has anyone got any other advice as it is very concerning.

I’d advise you to check your credit score/details. Same for your family members. The risk is that your personal details have been hacked/shared on the darkweb. Fully update all your computers/ electronic devices, then change all your passwords (different one for each site/company).
good luckFrom feudal serf to spender, this wonderful world of purchase power1 -

I had to stop my mums gas and electric from being switched numerous times. Someone was trying to create a credit file in my mums name and address. Keep checking your bank account for any payments going out that you or husband haven't made. If anything comes through the post that you haven't ordered be straight on that too. This happened to mum too.1

It sounds like it's someone that knows you. The chances of someone random linking you and another property with your husbands name seem rather remoteRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

If a family member is switching family energy supplier accounts to claim cashback then this is hardly an energy forum issue.0

[Deleted User] said:If a family member is switching family energy supplier accounts to claim cashback then this is hardly an energy forum issue. It's not, it sounds like some kind of personal vendetta, perhaps actually read the thread. We were in the process of buying a house where the owners decided not to sell. It cost us some £100s in fees, it was annoying but I didn't start a hate campaign against them.I'd suggest getting the police involved if this is harassment. Sadly some people are idiots. Good luck.1
