Switching providers on a SIM only deal - when do they ask for my PAC code?

Hello all,

Sorry this is no doubt a very simple question for those who have done it before, but I want to be certain before I switch.

I'm currently on a SIM only deal with EE, and am thinking of moving over the a Lebara deal which is a few pounds a month cheaper.  The thing is that when I go to sign up to Lebara I've gotten to the add payment card stage, and they still haven't asked me for a PAC code.  I don't want to commit to a deal where I'm using a whole new number, and still paying for my old deal.

Is this something that is asked for at a later stage?  Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Eli

  • You need to activate your new sim before you can transfer your old number to it, so you will have two numbers for a couple of days. Here's where you go to begin the transfer https://mobile.lebara.com/gb/en/portin once you have an active new sim and the PAC code from EE.

Thanks so much, that's great.  How annoying they can't sort it all out when I order it!

Probaly for the best, just imagine if you swapped numbers and then found Lebara didn't work for you for some reason

Good point, best to find out that (say) your phone is locked to EE or there's no Vodafone signal before you swap.

I always arrange my switch to take place mid week as this means you have time to sort out any possible problems before the weekend.

Don't arrange it for a Friday as if it gets delayed for any reason there's little chance of getting it resolved until the Monday.
