British Gas Refer a Friend voucher not received.

In April this year i switched duel fuels to British Gas using a refer a friend link given to me by a friend.
In August realising i had not received the voucher i contacted British Gas who referred me to their 'rewards department'.
The rewards department turned out to be a separate company namely Buyapowa who informed me that i and my friend had been approved for the voucher but that they could not send any out yet as British gas had not bought any vouchers.
Over the coarse of the last 3 months iv contacted British Gas to chase it up numerous times, being escalated within British Gas customer service to multiple different 'rewards teams' who all turned out to have no authority over anything to do with the rewards scheme and all of whom referred me on to the email for Buyapowa, who when contacted would again informed me that British Gas still haven't bought any vouchers for them to send out.
Interestingly every time Buyapowa have contacted me its been the same agent that has signed the apologetic email.
I would never have switched to British gas if it wasn't for the reward scheme, i live a lone and £75 is a sizeable chunk of my fuel bills.
There is seemingly no way to contact anybody within Biritsh Gas responsible for buying the vouchers.
I lodged a formal complaint with British Gas over a month ago and have received literally no response at all.

I have exactly the same issue. On two separate online chats, I was advised that both myself and my friend who referred me to the BG programme would receive the Gift Card before Christmas. Sent an email after Christmas, they said they have no record of me using a link!! I have saved a PDF of the application process so there is no denying from them. Now it has turned into a Spanish inquisition, when the referral was made friends BG account number, his email id, what BG programme was he on etc
My question is every time I log on to my BG account, the same carrot is dangled in front of me that if I refer someone we would both get a Gift Card, is this just to attract more customers with no intention of issuing Gift Cards. This sounds like deception.
Is it worth bringing in Advertising Standards Authority?

We are not alone here. Twitter, Facebook and Trust Pilot are full of people complaining about this very thing. I've contacted the ombudsman about how I complain because it's not obvious on their website as this isn't a 'gas supply' issue. I'm fighting it with them.
I took all the necessary steps to do it right, as they still are claiming people should do on their website. It's absolute robbery, so frustrating.2 -
I sent official complaint to BG, received a complaint reference but nothing further.
Could a complaint be sent to The Advertising Standards Authority as BG are duping customers to join them with no intention of paying out.1 -
Hi just like yourselves, I first joined British Gas November 2020. I left a really good fixed rate scheme with Octopus which I would still be on but Britis Gas was offering 100days between 9am and 5pm free Gas and Electric. Plus once I had joined I referred 4 people and did various other things. To date I am stilled owed over 100 days free gas and electric between 9am and 5pm, £400 in Amazon vouchers along with my friends also being owed the £400 in vouchers. I have been in contact with British Gas since January 2021 and now have a weekly phone call from a very nice lady in their complaints team who is supposedly trying to sort everything for me. They have so far paid £60 in good will towards the money they owe me for the 100 hours fuel saying the rest is being sorted. As for the vouchers they are trying to say the refer a friend voucher code wasn't used - a load of rubbish as it was done at my home with the various people involved. I am now in the process of sending yet another email and also taking it to Ofcom. I will not give in as this fight isn't just for me but everyone else who is owed money from them. If they don't want to give these things to people then they shouldn't advertise them.1

I am not getting anywhere except intermittent emails saying it is "being looked into". I requested a deadlock letter which I believe is needed to to take up with the Ombudsman. Would you mind sharing their phone as you have been able to speak to them. I have not had any luck. Many thanks0

I have similar issue. Should have received Amazon gift voucher by mid December 2021.
Have been chasing Referral support team (britishgas@referme.to) since 25 January 2022 and reply from them is that they have no update from British Gas.
Have raised complaint @ BG Complaint & Help support. The advisor called back and expressed her inability to take it up with any team at BG and offered to send an email to Referral support team to expedite.
Seems BG is not keen to honour its promotion commitment. Why would BG and Referral support team not work together otherwise.
