Plusnet Warning!

Beware anyone leaving Plusnet you still have to give 14 days notice of ‘cancelling’ even if your current contract is due to end. I’ve unfortunately just been caught out by this and will now be paying double next month between them and my new provider!

If you are switch from Plusnet to any other ISP that uses the Opeanreach infrastructure you do not give notice to Plusnet. The ISP you are moving to sorts that out. Due to the exact time the switch changes in relation to your Plusnet billing cycle you may have already paid Plusnet for a period of time when you will be with your new ISP. However Plusnet will refund pro rata for the time after you have switched. This is how it works changing from any ISP to any other ISP who use the Openreach infrastructure.Plusnet will refund you so in the end you will not be double paying.1

If another payment happens to go out to Plusnet in the meantime the balance will be refunded in due course.0

People don't understand the difference between a contract and a contracted minimum term. You signed up to a minimum term of x months of BB with Plusnet and even if that's coming to an end there's still a contract in place to supply BB on an ongoing basis with which you have to abide by when cancelling, such as giving a period of notice. This is the same for pretty much every ISP. Having said that,Sc0t88 said:Beware anyone leaving Plusnet you still have to give 14 days notice of ‘cancelling’ even if your current contract is due to end. @Neil_Jones is quite correct, you must be doing something wrong if you're trying to "cancel" rather than going through the standard move process. You shouldn't be in contact with Plusnet at all in this scenario.0
