Old matey-boy has landed on his feet here hasn't he? Three pensions, four between you but yours is almost (or maybe completely) exhausted before two of his are even touched.
Of course you should ask him to pay more. Giving up all of your income while he enjoys the full benefits of two of his pensions isn't close to fair.0 -
Just to play Devil's Advocate ;
From the information we have, it seems that the OP either moved in with or agreed to rent a flat that she couldn't afford unless her new husband agreed to pay far more than she could. We don't know how recently either of them retired but she must have known that it would be tough to live on just a state pension without help. Did OP discuss with her then partner how little, financially, she'd be able to contribute? I'm amazed that she's waited until now to discuss finances. Personally I'd have been bringing it up long before as I wouldn't be comfortable making a commitment for renting a flat when I couldn't afford to pay my way.1 -
I guess this depends on whether his money is spent on all the other things you do together so you don't pay for those.
Personally sounds like he isnt pulling his weight but that's based on just your post0 -
Hmm.
The partner has obviously been more savvy and saved more over the years. Should he be made to be some tyrannical monster for it?
I don't think so.
With love, POSR
