TV & broadband.. A strange one?

Ok, this this one is a bit strange. My virgin media broadband stopped working but at the same time it killed my tv signal.
The thing is, I don't have virgin media TV. Just the normal digital channels through an ordinary aerial wire.
I have virgin engineer coming out tomorrow to check the broadband.
My question is, what could have caused this? I mean one service knocking out the other when they are not connected? 🤔

Thats a good point. Its like a double socket on the wall that has an aerial point, virgin and sky points on it0

I have Virgin media TV but it is switched off as I use a satelite dish and Broadband TV has your TV linked to your BB?0

Ah, you didn't say that. So something has blown/shorted in that socket and has taken out both feeds. Any lightning strikes recently?Matty36 said:Thats a good point. Its like a double socket on the wall that has an aerial point, virgin and sky points on itNo free lunch, and no free laptop

No lightning strikes. Kind of sucks. But thanks. You rhink it would just be a case of replacing the socket? Or just to wait to see what the engineer says?0

Where are u based,i see a transmitter is down in the North East.0

Ok. So the engineer came out, looked at it for 5 seconds and said the switch to the optical box outside has been switched off. This switch is in one of the 3 other flats. Apparently all the virgin points are powered by this one switch. I didn't mention the TV but I'm assuming this is the same, as the aerial point is on the same socket as the virgin point.
Now this will be fun dealing with the annoying neighbours0
