if they are on the server, then synchronising should bring them onto the pc.1

IF ... that's not yet confirmed.cx6 said:if they are on the server, then synchronising should bring them onto the pc.
And the OP will need step-by-step advice on how to do that, hence why I've asked which specific version of Office/Outlook they are using. (We know it's an outlook.com email address).Jenni x2 -
Folders created locally under the Office version of Outlook are not likely going to be mirrored under a user's Microsoft Outlook email account. This is why we've asked if the user can see a Windows.old folder so they can search for their local outlook (*.pst) data file.2

Thats great news (and I was definitely crossing my fingers for you that all your folders were there)Just_Passing_Bi said:Hello everyone, sorry for the late responce, I've had a couple of off days, ANT555, I followed your istructions, and low and behold, everything is there

Thats the great flexibility of a 'cloud' email address you are using - you can access your emails using lots of different methods, it doesnt really matter which method you use. You can mix and match, look at messages using a browser in the morning, your phone in the afternoon and then the outlook app after tea - it wont matter at all.
Outlook emails and others such as gmail exist 'in the cloud'/on the internet - all messages are effectively hosted by the provider on their servers and everytime you do something it gets synchronised on the internet servers. Its your choice how you access those messages and saved folders - you can use Outlook on your computer, you can use www.Outlook.com in a web browser, you can use a mail app on your phone - all are effectively different ways of looking through a window to view your own messages. Everything gets synchronised on the providers servers so if, for instance, someone sends a message on a mobile then it goes to the 'sent items' folder, not just on the phone but it gets copied to the server as well without the user having to do anything, it just works - it doesnt matter what method you use to view that folder, the message is there.
In your situation - every time you have sent a message, filed a message in a folder, deleted a message - that change has been syncronised in your mailbox up there on the internet. You didnt know it existed, but its there and happy for you to use any method you wish to view your messages.
My next question is - is there any particular reason you are using the Outlook app on your PC or was it just set up for you and its always been that way?
Ive gone back to your original message and cant work out of you have any of your messages showing in outlook or you were just missing your folders.
Ive tried to make the explanation above as non-technical as I can - but the bottom line is your messages seem to be safe so we can take our time on the next step.
be assured that the fact you are using an @outlook.com email address is a very good thing if you are non-technical.
Hope this makes sense.

I am not an Outlook user so don't do anything without confirmation, but it is my understanding that you can synchronise the messages on the server with your PC Outlook and thus restore everything.
This is certainly true on eg a new Android phone - re-install Outlook, synchronise and everything is rebuilt on your phone.0
