I think I was scammed, how should I go for a refund.

signed up to Bharat matrimony, paid match making service.

There based in India but provide uk services  too

I signed up o.n Staurday they called me today, and showed me match’s.

And used clever sales techniques, so I paid £70

Now I read reviews it looks like a scam, I paid via PayPal, and through my bank as my card didn’t go through

Other friends card didn’t work either who was gona sign up.

I know I should have read reviews before, but I didn’t think there would be any online

Who should I ask for a refund from, PayPal or my bank and say what?, also I can’t afford my card cancel as need it for weekend, but if I call them later they will say why you tell us now.

Also it’s left PayPal but not on my bank yet, not even pending.

Or should I give 5% chnace they’re I’ll find me someone

  • If they're an Indian company operating out of India with no UK office, your contract will come under Indian consumer laws.

Paying by Paypal probably means you won't be getting your money back.

You can't tell your bank that you think you were scammed.

The time to check reviews is before parting with your money.

So that means your PayPal account is funded by Direct Debit. In that case nothing you bank can do..
    Any recourse is via PayPal.

As to your card. If you stop it now, you might get new one by the weekend. If they use your card later this week. The fact you need it this weekend will make no difference. Your bank WILL stop the card.

no need to contact my bank?

They can’t use my card can they, I tried using it but it failed, so used paypal
  • From their website - The laws of India shall be applicable.
So you signed up, didn't like the matches and now want your money back? What is the actual scam here?

If you entered your card details on their website then they have those details and can use them.

Assuming this to be a scam because they haven't yet (in just one working day) found you the bride of your dreams? Isn't that just a little bit impetuous of you?
A quick Google search shows this to be a genuine company, they've been trading for 24 years and have 130 offices worldwide.

You have been signed up for about 4 days so it's a bit early to start screaming SCAM, although it is certainly a possibility.  They will need to be given time to provide the service before either your bank or Paypay may take an interest.

It’s been one day I signed up after reading reviews I’m no longer interested, fake profiles lies, already they’d started sending me match’s from India when I said uk only.

I have signed up to other places never found anyone…this one is just a waste of money.

After next weekend will cancel my card too.

I did like the match’s, too many lies that’s the scam if you read the reviews sums them up better then I can

We don't need to read the reviews, because we're not signing up to it.  It's something you needed to do before signing up.

Presumably, the site has no way of vetting the content its users upload?  How can it be held responsible if a potential match lies about their height, weight, interests, etc?  How do you know profiles are fake?  If you like the matches, what's the problem?  How have you managed to determine, in one day(!), that the matches you like are fake or contain lies?
