So is this mechanic with the Toyota garage that allegedly changed the discs/pads last year?
If so, any discount for the part failing after such a short time?

No I took it to my independent. The previous owner used the Toyota main dealer.

He kept the parts he removed to show me. The offside disc had a dark mark on it that looked consistent with the shape of about maybe half the associated brake pad. That area was the bit causing the pulsing sensation her thought.

Edit - just to add, the front pads and discs were changed 6th January, 2020. The car has covered 16k miles since then.

Fair play, discs are so cheap you're as well just binning it rather than attempting a clean/skim.
Two x quality (Pagid) discs and sets of pads for a friend's Polo I did the other day were £55 all in.
One disc for my motorbike......£276.00...... :)

I was £300 for all four supplied and fitted today. Happy with that.
