Plus it can be more expensive to insure a car that is garaged at night rather than left on drive.davemorton said:
And that in itself would be a big enough reason for me not to use Clic Garage Doors of York.Section62 said:davemorton said:
Seams slightly spammy to sign up and your first post be about a company. Perhaps one to avoid op.Reynolds225 said:www.clicdoorsyork.co.uk is there website
OP joined 18 October at 1:05PM and was 'last active' 18 October at 1:13PM asking a question about local garage door suppliers in York. Hasn't been back since, as of 8 November.
First reply is from a poster who joined 18 October at 1:14PM to heap praise on a "fantastic local company" in York.

I can only assume drivers damaging their cars entering and leaving garage is a bigger risk than leaving on the drive, may be postcode dependant.justcat01 said:

Usually it comes down to analysis of vast amounts of claims data...justcat01 said:

It could be something indirectly connected, like people who have a garage and still use it to park their car in might tend to be older people whose eyesight/reactions/coordination isn't as good as younger (garageless) people - hence statistically the garage users (as a group) are more likely to make claims.
Car insurance pricing is driven by what the data says, not by logical analysis of what you actually do with your car.

And I always thought parking in the garage saved me money ! Every day is a school day lol1

It might still do... it all depends on all the other factors the insurer is taking into account in their model.koalakoala said:

Perhaps drivers with red cars who park them in a garage have fewer accidents than red car owning non-garage users do.
The only way of finding out is to get different quotes using the different options - but that should be done with caution as it can appear to be suspicious behaviour.

What I have noticed around us is a trend towards roller doors when people do replace.
They look good in most cases.
These days with cordless power tools making an opening in a door is pretty easy.

I recently installed a SWS SECEUROGLIDE. Not the cheapest but I did a lot of research including into security, and with choice of colours it blends in well.It replaced a manual up-and-over door and I wish I'd forked out the money years ago and had all those extra years of benefit.By the way, different installers will quote different prices for the self-same SWS door, so shop around!
