$1000 a week .
Apparently all the major companies have trimmed their stock bare to save money but now that travel is back up and running there are no or very few cars left to hire . Also the american public are travelling more in their own country .
Hopefully the price will go down by summer 2022 .
Anyone recomend a good deal .

I used to have a search engine website that did good deals. This was a few years ago tho......
try a google search, it may find it.
Did kayak not do a USA car hire search ?0 -
Kayak are no better than the rest .
I found one deal $500 but the same car with collision waver . accident insurance etc went up to $1600 .
One tip i heard was to ignore the big companies at airports and look locally .0 -
At the moment car hire prices there are crazy and will likely stay that way until the new car industry catches up with backlog and the firms are able to replenish their stock - which won’t be any time soon.If you’re staying in Orlando and visiting the usual tourist places then at the moment it the cheapest option is to forget about hiring a car and use Uber/Lyft instead.1

The problem isn't confined to Florida, or even just the USA, you will see the same comment throughout Europe, and presumably further afield too.

One tip i heard was to ignore the big companies at airports and look locally .Some years ago in Florida we were charged a DAILY airport access fee from the date of collecting the vehicle.Later discovered it was a levy the airport charged the car hire company for being on the site. The irritating aspect was that we drove past a car hire outfit about a 1/2 mile outside the airport - which was walkable and I could have easily collected and returned a vehicle there. So, it's worth checking if you can locate a car hire location near the airport - but not within the grounds.

I have been looking at Orlando rental car prices this week and on Sunday Avis were showing £3900 for an SUV for a week in Feb. That has now dropped to around £800 . I looked on Virgins site who have a deal with Alamo and I saw £365 for the same car and I was proceeding to book then spotted it was £365 per person based on 2 people so £730 for a week. I have never seen this on even the dodgiest broker site is this something new?0

Not come across per person car rental pricing - unless it was a Fly Drive combination.
Car rental in the USA has rocketed in price. Not sure people are yet aware how bad it has become. Car companies had to sell large chunks of their fleet during covid and are now struggling to restock. Avis are reportedly buying second hand cars to try and increase rental availability. I can see this being an issue that may only be discovered after people have booked other holiday elements.
In Orlando I can see Uber and the hotels that have theme park shuttles doing well. Car rental is otherwise going to significantly increase the holiday price for many.1 -
I'm going to California in Feb and booked my car (Chevy Suburban) in May for £409 via Avis - I've just done a dummy booking with Avis again and the same car would now cost £2192.Even something poxy like a Kia Rio is now over £1200Happy Days for me - Ouch for someone else booking now.0
