Landline UK call cost reduction

Hi,
I am wondering whether there are any predial services to reduce the cost from a UK landline to another UK landline.
I am wondering because there seem to be loads of international predial services that reduce the cost to far less than I currently pay for UK calls with Virgin but this would also be true for BT landlines.

strangely enough, yoy may find it is a lot cheaper to call a uk number from a mobile than a landline eg 1p a minute anytime0

The market has moved to an extent where its cheaper to make use of a mobile phone for calls than it would be to the landline, which has been basically reduced to being a broadband carrier.Note that some providers have free calls "internally", ie if you're on Plusnet and call somebody else on Plusnet that calls is free regardless.0

The 18185 service still works on Plusnet and presumably BT itself. Much cheaper than direct dialling.0

Or use a VOIP service, eg Sipgate, Vonage

Does 18185 work on national - UK - landline calls?

It would do, but at 2 pence a minute and a connection charge it isn't cheap any more. I haven't used it for several years, when it went up to 0.5p a minute.
I'd echo the advice about VoIP. Loads of providers, with rates starting at well under a penny a minute, even for mobiles. You can either use an app in a mobile phone via wifi or even sometimes mobile data, or get a cordless extension that also does intemet calls. I got a Siemens Gigaset one secondhand on eBay for £30.0 -
You're probably better off just using your mobile, and if you don't have a contract deal, get a cheap SIM only deal. Most if not all have unlimited mins and texts by default. Data is the only differentiation.1

£6.02 (inc VAT) for a 34 minute call on my Virgin landline.

Virgin is the reason I started this thread.
We went there for a broadband deal and I was surprised about the extra cost.
17p/min!! To a landline.
When I use a predialer I pay 0.5p/min to e.g. call germany.
