Could you post a picture of your letter but with your personal details blacked out? As others have said, the Octopus website lists a tariff named 'Octopus Prise Promise July 2021 v1' but it is variable, not fixed. Something doesn't add up...

No, definitely the tariff. The tariff was called price promise July 2021 V1.

It specifically says in that letter confirming my original tariff "you have selected our price promise tariff.  This means that your energy bills will reflect the amount of energy you use each month,  but the price you pay per unit is fixed". Tariff type says "fixed" and tariff end date is 30/08/2023.

Standing charge and unit price is going up ob both gas and electric
Helpful Octopus Price Promise July 2021 v1 is a flexible tariff, not a fixed one.
Helpful Octopus Price Promise offers great value and 100% renewable electricity. As a variable tariff, your prices can rise and fall with the price cap level as set by Ofgem - but you'll always save compared to the cap. There are no exit fees, and you can switch to a fixed tariff at any time, so if you change your mind, you're in control.

No picture showing for me I'm afraid.

    Edit: now visible  :).
  • On the second post, the first one didn't come out?
  • So the tarrif is a variable one but it does say fixed there, that could be an error,
maybe someone else with the same tarrif can check.

It's showing OK for me. That is very strange. I suggest you contact Octopus and explain that your letter clearly showed that it was a fixed tariff.

    I can see the picture.
I think you will have to query this with Octopus, sorry.

Edit: I've gone back through https://octopus.energy/tariffs/ as far as May and can't find a fixed tariff called "Price Promise". Almost (but not quite) all the fixed tariffs have the word "fixed" in the name and a duration eg. 12M or 24M.

  • Can we see the letter that says about the unit price not changing if you have that it would appear to me you would have a case to ask them to honour it.
