Dear OP (first time poster),
you have the correct responses despite not being the answers that you wanted.
Enjoy the curtains and the £40 gift.
Hope this doesn't put you off asking questions in the future.

I get why you're annoyed. It used to be that sometimes sales people would push a product fully knowing that it was going on sale but advising to wait would seriously have affected them meeting their sales targets. Not a tactic I used when I was in sales - when I saw someone contemplating a significant purchase I would sidle up to them and quietly say "why not go home and think about it and come back next Tuesday to see if you like the price better then?"
These days, particularly with large companies, sales people (assuming they were even involved) would not know about upcoming sales to prevent them delaying a transaction that would benefit the customer rather than the business.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Thank you all again for the advice! So I called 247 curtains again, and this time I was really polite and nice. Another customer care advisor took my phone, and the communication was really smooth.
Good news - I get the full refund!
I received an email confirmation from them shortly, pasted below:
"Thank you for your callPlease note the prices do change due to sales all year around, this is not something we can always refund however as per our conversation we will process the refund on this occasion as a good will gesture, the refund due to you would be £213.93.This will be processed shortly."
It is resovled and thank you all again3 -
Well done!

A great example that many others would do well to follow, instead of reaching for the chargeback/claim route the instant they're unhappy.
Make sure to give them a good review, they've shown a lot of goodwill here.2
