Help reduce fuel prices!!!!!1

Found this on the Suns website:
FUMING fuel protestors are using Facebook to plan a massive petrol boycott next week.

More than 144,000 angry motorists have joined the "No Fuel Day - 19 November 2007" group on the social networking site, to protest against the recent surge in the price of petrol.

The average UK price of unleaded petrol passed £1 a litre for the first time last week.

A new member is being recruited to the Facebook network about every three seconds.

BP is being singled out in the campaign, with members of the Facebook group alleging that the UK’s largest company has conspired to be the country’s dearest – an allegation that BP denies.

“It is very obvious that BP is the most expensive, therefore we should boycott all BP petrol stations,” the protest group’s Facebook page says.

It adds: “If customers stop using BP they will be forced to drop their prices, this will drive competition amongst the other companies and therefore lead to cheaper prices at the pump.”

Perhaps if we all join in her at MSE we can make the fuel companies buckle and send the price of fuel back below the £1 per
litre.

come on people power! if we live a democracy why not have our say!

  • It is not the fuel companies. It is the government. Plus OPEC will not produce more oil, so the oil price goes up so the petrol has to go up. I think the fuel companies in a lot of cases lose money on petrol. This country and all its stupid laws, ways and everything STINKS and I hate it.
  • we might not be able to reduce the price much but if the fuel companies take a small hit in their multi billion pound PROFITS all our essentuals such as milk and bread etc will be cheaper!

It won't make a darned bit of difference, I'm afraid. BP's profits are not generated by petrol.

On £1 a litre the government gets 60p in fuel duty and 17p in VAT = 77%

The retailer gets a meagrely 5p out of which they have to pay all their costs.

The real thieves are the Government.

The only way of driving the price down is to reduce the tax burden and the Government is NEVER going to do that because it would be seen by the greenies as encouraging people to drive.

Leave the car at home and not use the fuel. The government will then be forced to drop the tax to encourage use....... or something like that!

what hes trying to say is that when the price of petrol goes up so does the price of the foods we buy from the shops as the shops have to pay more for petrol to deliver the milk to the shops

BP aren't the most expensive in my area....so I'd rather not be targetting them when it's the government that could reduce our fuel costs by oh so very much :(

If everyone took the stance that " we wont make a bit of difference" may i remind you of the hoohah about poll tax, the government had to listen when the country started riots and protests and backed down scrapping it.

The motorist has a great deal of power if used correctly, it will soon come to truck drivers going on strike because the haulage firms cannot afford the diesel, which in turn will mean more foreign truck drivers from abroad who get their fuel cheap over the water.
