Mag boxes basically need a subscription to a provider that supply's illegal content .
They cannot be more reliable as  such services are actively prosecuted and shut down .
Picture quality not better as they are not from original source in many cases .

Virgin bigger bundle and sports is what you need if you going with them as that includes BT Sport.  £72.  I’m not sure though if that includes sky sports in HD.  That may be another £7pm.  Sign up through Quidco and there’s £165 cash back.  As for picture quality I definitely don’t think sky sports hd is as sharp on virgin this season for the football, which is odd as cricket and F1 is superb. BT sport Hd picture seems far sharper
Do quidco offer cashback for Sky deals?! I'm swaying towards Virgin for broadband and Sky for TV (if I can get a good deal).

As Sky specialize for TV and Virgin for Broadband, does everyone else seem to do the same?

It’s often better to have everything from one supplier.  It helps at contract renewal time to get decent discounts. The only thing with virgin is they don’t carry Sky Atlantic if that’s something you want to watch.  Quidco do offer cash back for Sky £130 for Sky tv and sports.

    Thats not true .

Sky provide  broadband  speed depends upon the quality of the line etc using Open Reach infrastructure .
VM use their own dedicated broadband lines .

Check what speed you can get from SKY or BT first .
Sky deals via Quidco are offered at times .

I definitely hear your point on having everything from one supplier, but if Virgins quality (especially for skysports) is not as good as Sky, then surely it makes sence to go for Sky if I can get it for a reasonable price? Sky Atlantic is not high on the list lol.

Checked on Sky for speeds and they only offering 30-37 Mbps whereas Virgin will do 108 Mbps, both same price £25 but seems a no brainer to go for Virgin..

It’s a personal thing for me on sky Football hD.  To me I think it’s not as sharp as it was last season on premier league games, I could be completely wrong, could be my box, but when compared to BT Hd seems slightly different. Every other sport is spot on though so it is odd. Wouldn’t use me as reason not to get virgin.  They very good provider as far as I’m concerned been with them 20 years

Just had a call from Virgin who are aware i'm looking for a deal and told them I need broadband, Skysports and BT sport in HD. She told me the Ultimate Volt bundle, which is £99 a month online, can be done for around £80 but that's still too high.

The bigger bundles + sports doesn't include Skysports HD (i think?) which is £72 online. I said Sky are willing to do a deal for me at around £65 for everything but she didn't counter offer.

She will call me again next week to see what I think. I will do the same with Sky and say Virgin offering everything for £65 and see what they say.

If anyone has been successful with another tactic please let me know!

  • Yeah she did mention this, but what am I going to do with that? Me and the mrs both have enough data on our contracts..

    Hi everyone!

I'll be moving into my first home in the next few weeks and one of the main priorities is sorting out the TV/Broadband setup.

I created a Sky package on their website which included the following:
    • Sky Signature (is this Sky Q?) - £21
    • Sky Sports - Complete Pack - £20
    • BT Sport - £24
    • Ultra HD and HD - £11
    • Netflix (is this Basic, Standard or Premium?) - £5
Total = £81 (£98 including Sky broadband Superfast).

I've always used Virgin for their broadband and heard Sky isn't the best - does anyone know if Virgin broadband is lower than £17, or is getting this through Sky cheaper?

Lastly, I'd love to know if anyone has a similar package and how I could haggle to try and get the price as low as possible!

Having worked for sky I can immediately see a few areas where you can save money.... Firstly the new sales team over the phone can do slightly better in terms of price compared to online so that should be your first point of call

    Sig £21
    Sky sports £18
    BT sport £15.20
    UHD £2.40
    HD £4.20
    Netflix £5
    Super fast £17

    Overall £82.80

You can even get this further down by calling up after signing up and going through to the pre active cancellations team and saying you can't afford it or virgin media have given you a better offer when I worked on that department I could do the following...

    Sig £17
    HD free
    UHD £2.40
    Sky Sports £18
    BT sport £15.20
    Netflix £5

    Super fast £17
    Overall £74.60

Agents also have access to £100 credit but that must be manager approved

I got signature £10 kids and hd free and super fast £18 free anytime calls for 18 months and £100 credit this way
