OK, so 3000 cubic metres in 12 months? It seems that Shell's projection of 33000kWh is about right.Killa_byte said:tim_p said:It does say ‘calculations include estimated readings’ so it would be helpful to see actual readings from when you moved in and now, plus dates.
Just logged into my Shell Energy account to check;QrizB said:From the Shell bill:"Calculations include estimated readings".What did your meter read a year ago, and what does it read today?

thats a stock meter i got off google mateelsien said:
But it isn't because your meter picture shows otherwise - presuming that's your meter and not a stock photo. What was the opening reading you gave them when you went onto the tariff and when did you take the picture?Killa_byte said:
i assume the opening reading was 6788, and today its on 9888tim_p said:So, what and when was the opening reading and what is it now - that will enable easy calculation of actual annual usage for the past year / x-months.2 -

Yes that's a "cubic metres" meter.

so i guess all seems fine then.QrizB said:Yes that's a "cubic metres" meter.
the only last thing i can point it down to is that my boiler keeps loosing pressure each month. it always goes down to zero;
I then always top it up back to around 2 bar. I'm not entirely sure why this happens

In anyone's book, that is a high level of consumption. Now is the time to start looking at ways to bring the consumption down. Less frequent showers might be a start, just think of that gas meter spinning the whole time the hot water is running! Closing off some rooms in winter, and letting them get cold would be a good plan too. I notice your have a good gas tariff too, 2.213p per kWh exc. VAT. That won't last forever.The boiler losing pressure is not a good thing. It could mean there is a leak somewhere, which you should ask the fellow who services your boiler to look into.2

i never knew that the meter spins so fast when using hot water. Both, partner and i, have stopped using hot water when washing hands etc. I now use cold, even when rising dishes/fruit etc.
that tariff has finished with shell. i moved onto AVRO before all the busts but now in that batch of people getting moved to Octopus.
I had the same issue last year with the boiler pressure and explained to my gas engineer and he said not to worry. he said its fine for it to lose pressure and to top it up. he only said to worry if the pressure went high.0 -
