Nigerian scam written all over it, possibly having hijacked someones ebay account too into the bargain.

    This sums it up completly!

My sold my sons Wii a week or so ago, the same thing happened to me. We re-listed it with a start of 99p in a 24 hour auction and it sold the next day for £205. We said that we'd only sell to a confirmed address and we sent it by DHL as it's trackable and signed for.

I have just sold an item on ebay (well nearly). I clearly stated twice that it was UK only

Have you set your preferences in "my ebay" to block buyers "who are registered in countries I don't post to"?

Just stating it in your auctions will not stop foreign bidders. Setting your preferences will.

a friend of mine partakes in a website called 511scam (or something similar) and they work to scam money from these nigerian scammers, some of the transcripts are hilarious.

similarly, i got an email this morning asking if i want to buy 10 Wiis to sell on on ebay for £300? all i have to do is send the cash in an envelope to an address in nigeria. i'm just looking for a stamp to send it off and if all goes swimmingly, i'll be drowning in wii
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

    It is probably called 419scam.

Advance fee scams are called 419 scams after the 419th article of the Nigerian Criminal Code as they started in Nigeria in the 1980s and many still originate from there. I feel sorry for honest Nigerians.

Strictly speaking, the above attempted ebay scam is not a 419 scam as it does not involve advance fees.
