PHI Income Protection Insurance with L&G

Hi,
I have income protection fixed until aged 65 with 6 month deferral with L&G for £3k.
I just wondered a couple of things...
1. Does job titles, change of income or change of contract type impact future claims, or is it based on whatever job/salary/contract I have at the time of claim?
2. If I were to claim, I have no exclusions, but do they still contact doctors directly for information, or do I have a say on what can/cannot be disclosed from my GP/NHS record?
3. How far back do they look at health, from birth or only recent. The reason I ask, is I have been to the doctor for a few things recently (eczema, heartburn, etc) and wondered if I were to renew or change my policy, these doctor visits can suddenly become exclusions from any claim?
Thanks,

1: they will look at payslips, P60, SA302 where applicable when you claim. Job title is of no concern
Generally you can claim up to 60% of your total gross income last I applied for one and will take your word on your earnings.
2: They will contact GP, if you do not want to disclose item x, the GP may likely put, patient has decided not to disclose his complete record, this will consequently may or may not reflect on the outcome of the claim/policy so bear that in mind. Which is why it is important to declare everything prior to policy starting
3: They will ask for a GP report, usually a generic one from start to finish. Child hood asthma and common ailments will unlikely make them decline a policy nor put exclusions on this.
Of course stuff like cancer, excessive alcohol intake, mental health for eg they will want to know more detail after combing through the preliminary report from the GP
Private medical insurance they will be more interested in your recent doctor visits and ailments."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Interesting, thanks for that. I was just curious as I took 2 weeks off sick with stress at the time, in fact about a month after the policy was applied for but a month before it came into force and wonder if that will cease the cover?
Jan 2018 and March 2018. Is stress classed as a mental illness? This is what I said no to.
In the last five years.....have you ever visited a doctor foranxiety, depression or any mental illness that's required treatment or counselling, or chronic fatigue syndrome? No
I didn't have any treatment just a sick note

If it's stress for e.g to bereavement, work, bullying e.t.c they will likely be more forgiving. But if it is due to mental health of course, this may or may not lead to increase premiums, exclusion or no cover
Best to declare to avoid any misunderstandings and waste of premiums when you need to claim and finding you have a policy void as they wouldn't cover anyways"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
