Is this a fixed price deal?

I didn't see anything during the sign up to say whether there would be price rises within the 24 month contract, but the paper work that arrived suggest that it will happen twice.

Language like this for example doesn't suggest that the price will change....

Go via this Broadband Genie Vodafone* link and you'll pay £19.50/mth, but you'll be able to claim a £125 Amazon voucher within four months. If you'd have spent that anyway, factor it in and the cost is equivalent to £14.30/mth over the 24-month contract.

  • I agree with you although the language is imprecise and incomplete rather than misleading. It's really just a heads-up that a deal is available. The price hike is mentioned in the Vodafone sign-up process about six screens in just before you enter bank details.

This new-ish annual price hike written into contracts has been well covered by MSE and elsewhere.

The 24-month Vodafone deal I signed up to a couple of weeks ago included a CPI+3.9% increase after 12 months. It's in their standard T&C (link) so this one is likely to be the same.

Think that increase is applied each April during your contract so two increases (at least that's what I found following that link waaay down).

    You're probably right.
Provided CPI doesn't go silly it's still £50 cheaper than my previous deal, plus the promised Amazon voucher!

Even more reason for them to mention it moving forward. An indication of what the figures are likely to be over 24 months would be useful (even if it's the minimum it will increase), rather than leaving it up to all the readers. From what I can tell, it's at least an extra £20.

    19.95*6 + 20.77*12 + 21.58*6 =498.42

    compared to

    19.95*24=478.8

(that is assuming it only increases by 3.9, cpi is likely to be higher than 0%)

It's more irking because the "best deal in years, must end soon" was immediately replaced by a voucher that was £5 better.
