So Nestle have decided to announce there 'might' be issues with supply of Quality Street chocs this Xmas.
Everyone rushes out to buy them now. Lovely little boost for Nestle finances. Come Xmas people will have to buy even more because they scoffed the panic bought ones.
Great marketing strategy Nestle......

Ha, I believe you could be onto something! We don't really buy any of that stuff anyway and we're vegan so unless there's a shortage of spuds and lentils we won't be worrying. I do however need to get cracking with the christmas cake!9

I said exactly the same to hubby yesterday! I think the lesson was learned early in the first lockdown about using the media to induce panic buying.DaysofQuiet said:So Nestle have decided to announce there 'might' be issues with supply of Quality Street chocs this Xmas.

Doesn't this happen every year anyway,, why else would the xmas stuff be in the shops at the beginning of September? How many people buy tubs of chocolates in September and leave them until December? Not many I'd guess!
I think you're right though and they won't miss the opportunity to sell us more under the guise of future shortages.4 -
Given that the thing missing last year for a great many of us was our families at Christmas, I’m pretty sure we can live without chocolates if push comes to shove!15

Its a cheap trick that will work once only. Nestle would do better to improve the quality of its chocolates, I cannot believe they are anyone's favourite out of the big 4. Heroes, Roses and Celebrations are way ahead.DaysofQuiet said:So Nestle have decided to announce there 'might' be issues with supply of Quality Street chocs this Xmas.

Great marketing strategy Nestle......No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
Bendick's Bittermints and Elizabeth Shaw mint crisps for preference here. If pushed mint Matchmakers and After Eights will do. I don't like any of the big 4 at all really but if I have to show willing I'll eat the toffees from Quality Street.Rosa_Damascena said:

If anyone can point me to a recipe for making my own mint crispy bits I'll be eternally in your debt.5 -

Well I went in Tesco and Aldi yesterday. Huge piles of Quality Street tins have appeared. Great timing......4

I went to my local coop at lunchtime. No Quality Street and barely anything else on the shelves. Lots of empty space and boxes. Chatting to the Manager, i learned a delivery arrived yesterday afternoon, from which the store had replenished the soft drinks section, but precious little else was received. The store orders what is needs and receives very little when the lorry arrives. our next closest stores has an apology playing on a loop, for the lack of stock.6
