Currency Cards for American Travel

Hello
We are travelling to San Francisco, Vegas, Honolulu & Maui, Hawaii in September 2022. We are travelling for 4 weeks.
I have no idea where to start with currency. I have read about pre-paid cards such as Hays Travel offer a card or Travel credit/debit cards.
If someone could shed some light on what would be best as we do not want to carry large amount of cash with us for safety.
Thank you

Just using your regular bank debit card with a few fees is simpler and probably cheaper than any cards from travel agents or supermarkets etc that you load with dollars.

I've got a credit card that has no fees for foreign use, just a decent exchange rate when used. (Santander 123, no longer available I believe but other ones are - there's time for you to shop around) I could use it to withdraw cash but then I am being charged interest at a silly rate. Instead I simply use a debit card to get cash when I need it. But frankly that is rare as everywhere takes the credit card happily.
I assume however that that might be an issue in Vegas if you want to gamble and also isn't as easy for tipping - preference for so many is to tip in cash to ensure the wait staff gets what they deserve/earned rather than it going into the restaurant owner's pocket.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. There are plenty of debit cards that allow fee-free withdrawals in foreign currency: Virgin Money for instance. (Do be aware that most ATMs in the USA will charge you a fee for each withdrawal.) Best of all is to use a Curve card with a cashback credit card, so long as you understand the rules and stick to them.
