I have a Corolla on PCP, does anyone know if after the 24 month deal, and you decide to keep the car, is it possible to refinance the balloon payment through Toyota and pay it off over another 24 months?
Ability to refinance will depend on your credit history and affordability.

There is no guarantee that Toyota will offer you finance for the balloon, or that it would be competitive if they do.  In many ways, the manufacturer has a vested interest in regaining your car to sell again at profit while sitting you in a shiny new car on the next PCP cycle.

OpenPilot is worth checking out: https://comma.ai/ it's basically an aftermarket Tesla AutoPilot but compatible with other cars. Im sure its not as refined etc. but worth a punt as the reviews look good!

I'm in negotiations with the dealer now to see if I can get a couple of quid of the price and we will go from there!

ANyone want to but an 11 plate Volkswagen CC with 140k miles on the clock?  :D

Off the original topic - but is that really worth it?  Unless you are expecting to make a lot of long journeys where your attention might wander?  Have you tried it in something else?
I need to think of something new here...

I can't believe a 0% PCP on a used car can be competitive.  It must be built in to the price of the car.

OP please check prices for similar cars before you commit.

I'm not sure how the Open Pilot can achieve retrofit self-drive unless the hardware is already there.  Surely, if the car has the hardware, then the system would be functioning and not need some aftermarket software.

I though the CHr Excel came with Toyota Safety Sense as standard - that is AEB, adaptive cruise, lane departure warning, speed sign recognition, auto high-beam, blind spot monitor, self-park.  What does the Open Pilot then add?

On top of that list, I think open pilot adds 'driver monitoring', whereby if it senses the driver isn't paying attention for 6 seconds it will stop the car.
Also 'assisted lane change', where putting the indicator on and nudging the wheel will make the car change lanes itself.
It's classed a level 2 self-driving aid, where level 4 is the driver being able to leave the driver seat.

Basically it adds even more stuff I would switch off.
I'm not interested in this pseudo-assisted driving claptrap.
I'll drive completely manually until fjull autonomous driving is perfected.
    All or nothing for me.

Yes agreed very off topic but yes I frequently drive to Scotland and am hoping this might take the edge off slightly. I drove my boss's Tesla to Scotland 2 years ago and Autopilot was on 95% of the journey. Was a very pleasant experience.

I've had a look on Auto-trader and as stated earlier in the post there were some circa £500 - £1000 cheaper but not with the Toyota warranty nor 0% finance. If you are able to identify a better deal, I'd welcome it. I'm not tied in to this deal yet!

Yeh it's more a drivers assistance and yes you are right that it monitors the the driver and will bring the car to a stop if I were to fall asleep etc. Might be a gimmick, but the reviews are very promising. I will report back :)

This Toyota used PCP is a new offer they have this month that they did not have last month.  Given that also comes with the "relax" warranty for as long as Toyota service the vehicle plus the shortage of vehicles right now, it is probably quite good.

The only final check would be, depending on the age of car, whether a brand new car can be acquired from a Broker for less.  I think you indicated £14k price tag, in which case the car will be too old for that comparison to be required.

    Cash price is £19k.

Do you mean for any car or specifically the CHR? There are definitely cheaper cars out there. I saw a Skoda lease deal the other day that was practically stealing!

The car just didn’t float my boat sadly.

it was between the CHR, a Golf and a Tesla Model 3 for me. Tesla is too expensive, Golf was good but a bit dull, the CHR was a bit exciting!

I mean for the CHr as that is what you have chosen.

Sometimes brand new cars can be nearly as cheap, or cheaper, than nearly new used.  A quick look on one broker site shows the CHr Excel at £27k or £28.5k (two engine choices).  Your £19k used car obviously wipes the floor with that, so stick with it.

According to the following thread, the "steal of a deal" Skodas are on excessive lead times:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6281243/lease-cheap-deal-skoda-scala-se-l-8000-miles-rfl-included-3-23-broker-fee-total-cost-4149-55#latest

Grab the CHr and enjoy it - they are quite something different style-wise compared to the Golf and, as you say, the Tesla is a lot more capital (but may be lower total cost of ownership depending on many variables).
