Just got the email confirming Eon Next is taking over our Symbio accounts.

No prices as yet BUT a postcode search shows some tariffs..........

Strangely, they list the same tariff twice - NextFlex - but with different rates (we are electric only)

Electric Unit = 21.61p
Daily Charge = 25.66p

and

Electric Unit = 22.76p
Daily Charge = 30.32p

No idea why they are different.

  • Probably with or without direct debit.
  • Here are my figures from here...
    Unit rate20.32 p/kWh
    Standing charge23.77 p/day

I think this variation is geography - some areas are a bit less than others.
It's possible (but unlikely) that they may offer us less than this capped price for a few months.  You never know.
I also get two prices, with no explanation.  I'm 90% sure it's direct debit or not.

Yes the rates vary by region of the country. You can see the differences here. It's not that significant but there are variations

If you look there is a third - for pre pay meters - so it fits with the headings for the price cap.

It seems that there are three categories, credit, "other" (ie direct debit) or prepay.

Credit being most expensive, then prepay, with direct debit being the cheapest.

I guess it's based on the cost of collecting payment, where credit implies that you are always in debit even after you pay a bill, prepay has has ongoing costs with collecting the payment, whereas Direct Debit is the cheapest as it's virtually automatic (and there are periods when customers are actually in credit, benefitting the supplier)
