    ... Breaching the £3 per therm level for the first time in history....
    Futures for next month delivery breached £4 at 9.30am today, now back down to about £3.35. (so about 10p higher compared to 8am today)

    With this much volatility, it's difficult to make any meaningful sense out of all this.

    But I'm sure the professional traders are making a packet, and the wannabe traders are losing their shirts.

    No guesses as to who is ultimately suffering from all this.

    On the day when the media chose to report on another surge on the UK gas futures market, the prices quickly collapsed back to where they started the day.

    Certainly vast fortunes have been won and lost today among traders, while the rest of us suffer the consequences of the game.

    I suppose, looking on the bright side, you could say gas prices have fallen by 30% from the high  :)

    I guess the Russians think gas prices are now getting silly and may cause problems in the broader world economy?

    Well, the gas price for November delivery opened at 303 and closed at 266, down 12% on the day.
    I don't know what everyone was getting so excited about.
