Igloo transfer to E.ON... I'll wait to see what they offer...

I was Originally with SSE and was on the standard tariff Due to personal Circumstances my usage was quite high, and over several months I worked hard to monitor and eventually managed to get my usage to a reasonable level, however this was still a monthly cost I was struggling with.

In May, I was searching for a cheaper supplier... and used Energy Saving Club. I switched to Igloo Energy variable Tariff, and my switch was completed in June.

During my time with Igloo, They wanted to increase my direct debit twice, followed by another due in October. Even with these multiple increases, my monthly usage was still lower than my previous SSE bills.

Then I received that dreaded email from Igloo, saying they had ceased trading...

Today, I checked on Ofgem, to find out E.ON Next was assigned to take on customers from the latest 3 bust energy suppliers.

First thing I done was to check their Tariff... and was shocked to see the following...

Unit rate28.57p per kWh
Standing charge37.51p per day

Compare this to Igloo's Pioneer October Rate
Unit rate19.808p per kWh
Standing charge23.00p per day

The worst news is the tariff above might not even be the tariff I get put on. Ofgem say Deemed contract which is the most expensive.

I feel like all my work trying to lower my usage has been all in vain... I feel like telling E.ON Next to just cut off my electric and I'll live on sandwiches and candlelight, braving cold baths...

I just can't afford to pay this increased amount. It's absolutely ridiculous. It doubles my Igloo DD.

The 'deemed contract' you will be put on will not be as expensive as those figures you have given and will be the same or virtually the same as all other SOLRs are offering at present.

The price I got was from when I entered my Postcode. So other Tariffs are not available to me.

I've managed to find the Tariff for Deemed and it's even worse.

Your tariff isn't available for new customers, so won't be listed. It will be the OFGEM price cap for your region.

Just to concur with the posts above - you won't be paying the prices you've found and will almost certainly be paying a tariff that is defined by the current price cap (or very close to it).

It's all a bit confusing as I've never come across this before... and when I read Deemed Contract a google search brings up that it's a Business Tariff when you first move into a Business Premises.. So I've been panicking like crazy.

Hopefully I'll find out shortly when they contact me. I did cancel my DD with Igloo, as I'm in credit of £100+

    Don't panic. Really.
If you want to know what the Ofgem capped tariff - the typical deemed tariff, and which is very similar to what E.ON Next will offer - is, put your region and annual consumption into @jimjames webpage. It will spit out a pretty good estimate.
It doesn't include VAT (unless he's updated it since) so you'll have to add 5% to whatever you get.

The use of the word ‘deemed’ relates to the fact that the instant that the SoLR takes over the supply obligations  from the failed supplier,  consumers are then in a legal contract with the SoLR. It is similar to the situation when people move into a new home. You are placed in a deemed contract with the existing supplier even if you choose not to contact them.

Deemed contracts exist solely to keep the lights on. The alternative is that main fuses are pulled/smart meters are disconnected whilst customers of the failed supplier start the switching process. Seventeen days or so later, you might have some power!

After putting in my postcode I am presented with a few tariffs, there are 2 Next Flex tariffs though, one is different (higher) than the other.
I await for Eon Next to inform me which in the coming days/weeks.
